Week Five Recap (5-0): Victory through waiver wire pickups? What!?!

ATLANTIC CITY SHARKS 408
NEW YORK METROPOLITANS 354

Lineup Moves: No major moves, only off day fill ins with mostly off results.  Kevin Pillar was the only player to post positive points +4, however, the net result of this weeks roster tweaks was an uninspiring -2.  Kenley Jansen back from the DL (FINALLY!)

Homerun Pickups:  Nathan Karns, Jason Hammel, Matt Garza and Jonathon Niese all posted starts of 20+

Conclusion:  The lineup was bad again with only 163 points and is beginning to become a concern. Played the waiver wire on off days to bulk up but with mixed results.  Of the regulars, Castro, Gattis and Davis all stunk up the joint and while Mookie Betts posted 31, none of the other starters came close to twenty.

The pitching staff carried the team again at 245 points.  My waiver wire picks were a little boom (24, 25, 26, 22) or bust (-16,-16,-9) but King Felix was dominant in two starts again and the bullpen was almost flawless for an overall line of  9-5 with 10 saves.

The pitching staff with the full complement of closers looks like this.

SP Felix Hernandez

RP Kenley Jansen
RP Trevor Rosenthal
RP Joakim Soria
RP Jason Grilli
RP Fernando Rodney
RP Jeurys Familia
RP John Axeford
